CIRCLE - about

 

I had just wrapped up touring in support of “B” , and I was getting anxious to get something new into circulation - C was the next letter to tackle. I started “Circle” at the end of 2006 in a tiny studio apartment in Los Angeles. With a guitar on my lap and lryic scraps laying around, I began recording onto a laptop - working through re-writes and demos. Over the next 2 years I moved back to Chicago... and then back to Los Angeles (again).

 

This CD was recorded between those two cities and five residences. Way too long and way too boring to go into - let's just say - Circle was sculpted out of moving boxes, cans of tuna, Hwy 80, Middle America, and a longing for solid footing.

 

With the help of Scott Jacobsen and Sherwin Samson, Tick Talk found a voice. With Mat Leland's ears and musical touch, this mish-mash of songs found a home.
So I'm back to where I started - in a tiny studio on the west coast thinking about the next letter.
